Heat conductivity is tailored to the specific alloy grade, particularly for the 405 stainless steel round bar.

This grade of stainless steel is known for its softness and ductility, making it easy to machine. In terms of weldability, it can be welded using resistance techniques and shielded fusion methods. However, this alloy does not respond to heat treatment. Typically, these bars are available in sizes ranging from 3.17 mm to 350 mm in diameter, with lengths from 1 to 6 meters, and can be customized as needed. The finishes offered include polished, black, and bright, with options for cold drawn, polished cold drawn, and centerless ground conditions.

While 405 stainless steel is not as corrosion-resistant as austenitic grades like 304 or 316, it does provide good resistance to atmospheric corrosion, water, and mild chemical environments. It has fair heat resistance but may not be ideal for high-temperature applications compared to some other stainless steel grades. Common welding techniques can be used, but preheating and post-weld annealing may be required to prevent cracking.
