The 416 stainless steel round bar is specially formulated with added sulfur and phosphorus to enhance machinability, making it a free machining grade of stainless steel. This alloy can be hardened through heat treatment to achieve higher strength and hardness, making it ideal for applications that require excellent machinability along with good corrosion resistance.

Typically used in marine, industrial, and structural applications, the 416 stainless steel round bar offers superior machinability compared to other stainless steel alloys. However, its strength and corrosion resistance are lower than many other stainless grades as a result.
